Defense of a Master鈥檚 Thesis in the Criminal Science Program by Student Yasser Hammad

Student Yasser Hammad, a researcher in the Master鈥檚 Program in Criminal Science - Department of Legal Sciences at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended his thesis titled: 鈥淓conomic Crime and the Individualization of Punishment.鈥

The study鈥檚 problem statement lies mainly in the legal texts related to the individualization of punishment for economic crimes, whether contained in the Penal Code or in other laws, where the court is granted discretionary power. The difference between the two edges is often large, so that the judge鈥檚 discretionary power expands to face various circumstances surrounding the economic crime and its perpetrator.

Researcher Saly Awad Defends Master鈥檚 Thesis in the Criminal Science Program

Researcher Saly Awad, a student in the Master鈥檚 Program in Criminal Science - Department of Legal Sciences, defended her thesis titled: 鈥淐ontrols on the Discretionary Power of the Criminals Court Judge in Punitive Individualization - A Comparative Study.鈥

The study dealt with the controls of the discretionary power of the criminal court judge in punitive individualization, comparing it to the relevant criminal legislation. This study is conducted in light of the powers granted to the criminal court judge due to the importance of clarifying the position of the Palestinian legislator in the Palestinian Criminal Procedure Law No. (3) of 2001 as well as the comparative legislation on the discretionary authority of the criminal court judge in punitive individualization in terms of the authority of the criminal court judge on the one hand.

Defense of the Master鈥檚 Thesis by Student Abdullah Hamarsheh in Criminal Science

Researcher Abdullah Hamarsheh, a student in the Master鈥檚 program of Criminal Science, defended his thesis titled: 鈥淭he Crime of Seizing Influence in Palestinian Legislation in Light of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (a Comparative Study).鈥

This study aimed to reveal the crime of seizing the influence as a corruption crime, and to enrich the Palestinian legal library with a new topic and an advanced track of research in this field, as this is considered the first Palestinian thesis of its kind that dealt with this dangerous crime.

This thesis was supervised by Dr. Abdullah Mahmoud, Dr. Nour Adas, and Dr. Hekmat Amarna. The committee recommended that the thesis be approved and published due to the importance of its subject so that it would receive the highest academic degree at this stage.
